Who says you can't bring a 1999 RX-7 to America?!?
Last week a call came in to the Rotary Performance Hotline that a new 1999 Japanese spec RX-7 was on our very shores. Our ever ready investigative crew quickly assembled and jumped on the next plane out to an undisclosed location in California to validate these claims of the impossible. After arriving at our rendezvous point, a quick flash of credentials and a few secret handshakes granted us access to what seemed too good to be true. Sitting before us was a brand new, shiny Innocent Blue Mica RX-7 RS. While the car was only here for the weekend, we were there for an exclusive test drive and photo shoot. No other RX-7 tuner or major national magazine can offer you this much hands-on information! Below are a few RX7.COM exclusive photos of the car. We will update this page in the near future with many more photos and the full and juicy details of our impressions of this latest incarnation of the Mazda RX-7.

1999 RX-7 RS Shot of the Innocent Blue Mica '99 RS in a California parking lot. Hungry after our flight from Texas, we stopped in for a bite to eat at a nearby mini-mall. "Table by the window please!".
View of at least one of the nice rear ends we saw while in California. This one was a favorite and sported a nice "RX-7.COM / Rotary Performance" license plate frame. Surprisingly the adjustable spoiler actually looks good at any angle. 1999 RX-7 RS
1999 RX-7 RS Interior shot of the '99 RS. Basically R1/R2 type interior with highly supportive seats, no radio, a Nardi steering wheel, and a cool flare of the passenger side.
It's alive!! Note the new boost gauge in place of the oil pressure gauge. Also new look for tach. Only 2986 kilometers so far. How far away is Texas? Here's a useless tidbit for your next RX-7 Jeopardy party; the clutch pedal doesn't need to be depressed to start the car. 1999 RX-7 RS
1999 RX-7 RS Night shot of the new front fascia lights in action. The bumper combo lights look awesome and the fog lights can be turned on without the headlights up. Nice!
Headlights are up and we're off to the street races. Err, I mean back to the hotel. Lighting quality is about the same as the '93-95 US cars but the fog lights are actually bright. Imagine that! 1999 RX-7 RS
