The 2000 Drag season is already shaping up to be even more exciting than last year as EVERYONE is getting faster. A few years ago, it was a rare sight to see someone committing such effort to seriously drag racing a RX-7. American-built tube frame imports could be counted on one hand and even back-halving a RX-7 seemed incomprehensible. This year marks a milestone in the Import Drag Racing scene as it's finally becoming a serious sport here in America.
Without further adieu, we bring you a sneak-peak of the 2000 Drag Racing season. The cars, the faces, the inside scoop of what's coming that you can get no where else but from RX-7.COM.

Pro-Imports
The high end Pro-Import class consists of all out, tube frame cars. This is where you'll find your 7 and 8 second cars from the likes of Abel Ibarra (Flaco Racing) and Rafael Rivera (Rafaelito). These cars represent the cutting edge technology in engine tuning with 2 rotors pushing out 700-800HP to the wheels and the handful of 3-rotors with claimed power outputs of 900HP+.

Abel's red R100 was one of the first rotary powered import drag cars to grab national attention in the '90s as he piloted it into the low 8s. Now he's stepping up to go even faster with his RX-7.COM sponsored chromoly tube frame RX-7. With nearly 800RWHP on tap from his 1.3L 2-rotor engine, he's already dipped into the 7s during testing and is preparing to take the 2000 season by storm. Definitely one to watch!

It's a full metal body car and unlike some of the other Pro Imports we've seen, this one's being built according to the NHRA Pro Stock rules.
