NIRA Texas Import Showdown - August 22th, 1999
|
Aaron Imler's 1994 RX-7, a fast daily-driven RX-7 from Austin, Texas |
Side view of Aaron's car with some of the nicest wheels I've seen. Perfect match for the Montego Blue |
Doug Underwood, making the drive from Atlanta to kick some Supra's around the track. |
Doug's car is being built more for road racing but he proved you can have fun doing both. Doug tells us that when you road race, the race actually lasts longer than a few seconds...obviously he's never seen me on a road course! |
Jon Drake, another road racer, was in attendance to teach the Supra guys from respect |
Jon's 1995 RX-7 has obviously undergone some extensive modifications. Very nice, clean car. |
A show winning Turbo II was in attendance. Very nice attention to detail |
Under hood shot of the Turbo II. Obviously he's just as much go as show. He was running very low 13's when obvious traction problems. |
Peter Farrell's super fast 10 second RX-7. Best run of the day was in the morning when he put down a 10.3 pass. |
Peter (gray race suit) and Ari (background) discuss the day's events. Ari and Peter met in the finals with Peter getting the victory by 0.006 seconds. Unfortunately both cars we're experiencing problems throughout the entire day. |
Brent's car with a newly installed Haltech E6S. Unfortunately a worn out motor sidelined the car from further competition. |
Brent's Single Turbo, Haltech controlled engine bay. Humorously, someone mentioned they never seen so many single turbo 3rd gen RX-7s. We've been averaging at least one conversion a week lately so plan on seeing even more at future events! |
