The stock flywheel was designed with extra weight to make stop and go driving a little easier. The disadvantage of this added weight is that your engine has to use more power to accelerate the flywheel which causes slower revs and an elastic feeling when engaging the clutch. If you’re building your car for higher performance, a performance lightweight flywheel will allow the engine to accelerate quicker with more power getting transferred to the asphalt. For comparison purposes, the stock flywheel weighs around 20lbs, the Chromoly StreetLite flywheel weighs 13.8lbs and the Bönez Ultra light units weighs 9.6lbs.

ACT StreetLite FlywheelAll ACT flywheels are made from forged Chrome-Moly Steel which is stronger than cast iron, billet steel or aluminum, CNC Machined to exact tolerances. Featuring induction hardened integral ring gear, durable and thick enough to be resurfaced. The StreetLight weighs only 13.8lbs for enhanced engine response. Certified SFI Specification 1.1 - Legal for racing.
Note: Includes necessary installation hardware but requires counterweight (sold separately, see below).

Bönez SuperLight FlywheelAll Like the ACT flywheel, the Bönez flywheels are made from forged Chrome-Moly Steel and CNC Machined to exact tolerances. Featuring induction hardened integral ring gear, durable and thick enough to be resurfaced. The Bönez SuperLight Flywheel is the lightest flywheel available for steet driven cars. It weighs only 9.6lbs and is intended for cars that are primarily used for track days and autocross. It can be driven on the street with a slight compromise in low RPM drivability.
